The massive biker turnout people expected in Dearborn never happened the way social media portrayed it — but that may not be the most interesting part of the story.

We’ve seen this before. When the Tren de Aragua situation exploded in Aurora, Colorado, rumors spread that the Hells Angels and other motorcycle clubs were headed there. Now similar claims surrounded Dearborn, Michigan. So why do bikers keep getting called upon — or even inserted into stories — whenever people believe things are about to get ugly?

In this video, we look at what actually happened in Dearborn, why the viral biker convoy claims didn’t match reality, and the much deeper history behind why motorcycle culture has become associated with protection, loyalty, strength and showing up when others need help.

From the Patriot Guard Riders shielding military families from protesters, to Bikers Against Child Abuse standing beside frightened children, to the deep connection between veterans and American motorcycle culture, there’s a lot more behind the biker reputation than leather jackets and loud motorcycles.

Why does society sometimes look down on biker culture — yet seem to want bikers standing beside them when things get serious?
